Extended Project Summary
Our proposal serves the objective of identifying the benefit of a brief reduction of egg-laying and consequent egg shell formation on keel bone fracture susceptibility and relevant underlying bone properties. We will utilize melengestrol acetate (MGA), a progestin demonstrated to effectively reduce egg production with minimal side effects (Koch et al., 2007), to induce the state experimentally.
